Treasures of Europe Tours, “Upclose Tours” Feature Antiques Tour Spring Dealers’ and Pickers’ Antiques Safari
May 4-12, 2013
Join Us this Spring for a Glorious Treasure
Hunt in Europe’s Attic …
Comb five markets for antique treasures, design objects
and collectibles. Sleep in a castle one night and a
medieval walled city another. Scour warehouses, old
factories, mills and under-the–radar dealers for bargain priced smalls, furniture, estate finds, art and other finds.
Enjoy the adventure and excitement of a top-flight,
expertly-guided antiquing tour in the heart of Europe!
You’ll hunt for antiques in the nooks and crannies of
Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria… the UNESCO World
Heritage City of Bamberg… Medieval Nürnberg…
and the Imperial City of Dresden…
Shop at the biggest flea market in Germany, held
only twice a year. Scour warehouses, shops, galleries
and farmsteads you would never be able to find on
your own. Stay in one-of-a-kind historic hotels. This will
be an adventure like no other. Come with a friend,
fellow dealer, picker, collector or designer, family
member or someone special who shares your
passion. Our spring antiques getaway is
designed to help you get the
best out of your travel
experience. We’ll be
traversing the old kingdoms of
Franconia, Saxony, and
Bavaria. A large part of this
region was part of the former
Eastern Bloc. Travel was difficult
for westerners. Much of the
area was isolated. Since
private enterprise was frowned upon, trade in
antiques was nearly non-existent since the end of
World War II and all during the Cold War years.
Antiques, estate treasures, collectibles, design
objects, art, décor, and other finds backed up in
people’s houses, attics, cellars and barns for
decades because there was no antiques market. An
antiques trade has gradually emerged in the 20 years
since the Velvet Revolution and the fall of the Wall,
but the market is still underdeveloped. You’ll find an
immense selection of treasures to choose from.
Join us for an unforgettable adventure!

We’ll be visiting antiquing

we’ll do our best to help you arrange other activities
that are not part of the core tour, if you would like.
